First Home Owner’s Grant is Now $15,000 for Some Families, But Only if You Act Now11 May 2017

For those who enter into a contract by 30 June, 2017, the $10,000 first home owners Grant is bolstered by a boost payment of an extra $5,000. This makes a total of $15,000 in Government assistance if you decide to build a new home and sign a contract by 30 June, 2017.
The Boost payments were originally scheduled to be available for the entire year of 2017, but the government changed their mind and will be ending the program at the end of June. Consequently, it is important for you to move now if you want to build your first home and receive $15,000 in assistance from the Government.
How Does it Work?
The first home owners Grant has been set up to help encourage first home buyers and to encourage the construction of new homes. While it used to be available for established homes, it is now available only for new homes. This helps the construction industry and eases price pressure on buyers and renters alike by creating more properties on the market.
When you enter into an agreement to build a new home, the government will provide you with a First Home Owners Grant of $10,000 and a Boost payment of $5,000 if you meet the deadline. if you cannot meet the deadline, you will still get $10,000 and you will also receive a significant reduction in stamp tax duty.
When you buy a new home, you only have to pay stamp tax on the land. You don't have to pay it on the building. In fact, you can depreciate your new investment home for tax purposes.
